The
Call from the Pacific
Suva, Fiji On the lush green island of Fiji, set in the midst of the
Pacific Ocean, a group of Christian teachers invited WorldTeach to teach and
train them in Walk Thru the Old Testament. Sixty-eight turned up for the seminar
on the first day. Amongst them was an elder from a Brethren church who is also
a kind of senior church leader amongst the church in Fiji. A missionary teacher
from New Zealand who went on a mission tour of Yunnan initiated this invitation
to WorldTeach. There she met a couple of missionaries from the US who loaned
her the textbook on 7 Laws of the Learner. She literally devoured that book
and made copious notes and returned back to Fiji. She lost contact with her
missionary friends but managed to track down the website of Walk Thru the Bible
and from there, contacts were made with our regional office. Subsequently, they
invited us to conduct the Walk Thru the Old Testament for their Christian teachers.
This may just be the humble beginning of launching WorldTeach in this island
nation, a nation whose first love is rugby more than anything else. With contacts
made and connection for future partnership secured, we look forward to move
along in paving the way for a launch in Fiji and from Fiji to other nations
in the Pacific area.
God is so good! Sailosi Baleisolomone said, In bringing our
dear friends here to teach us this seminar. He continued, I have
committed myself to read the bible regularly and to learn to obey God in my
personal life. Sailosis commitment echoed the desires and commitments
of the majority of the participants.
On the second day, a specially selected group of eight was trained to teach
WTOT.
